Mrs. Lana Bruce

Introduction to Cosmetology

Mrs. Bruce has been in the beauty industry as a hair designer for 14 years specializing in hair-coloring/glazing, razoring, and hair sculpting techniques. She continuously attends training with international hair artists and thoroughly enjoys her work in the salon as well as spending time with family. Mrs. Bruce is blessed with a wonderful husband-David, and a beautiful, sweet daughter-Jessi, and they attend church regularly at East Ellijay Baptist Church.

EDUCATION: Earned  Master Cosmetology license in 1997,  attended numerous Roy Peters Color Academy Seminars as well as the Redken International Symposium in Las Vegas. Mrs. Bruce became certified through Redken in New York City in December 2009 as a REDKEN CERTIFIED HAIRCOLORIST.

Course description: This course of study briefly outlines the professional image of a Cosmetologist, the career opportunities in this field, and will provide students with the basic skills in hair designing and hair cutting techniques. This course is intended to introduce the potential benefits of becoming a professional in the beauty industry.

Mr. Roger McDaniel

Introduction to HVAC

Mr. McDaniel has been in the HVAC business since 1989 and has 20 + years experience in design, maintanance and operation of Heating and Air Conditioning systems.  He was Director of Marketing and Sales for Total Supply Company from 1996 - 2000.  He later opened up the HVAC Division for Nolan Supply Company. Later, after moving to Jasper, Georgia, McDaniel began his own sub distribution company in the North Georgia area. He currently owns and operates Air Conditioning & Heating Outlet, where he wholesales HVAC equipment and supplies and directs installations and maintanance. He is approved by ESCO Institute to teach and certify HVAC technicians for their EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Cards.  He attended University of Mississippi where he majored in Education.

In McDaniel's spare time, he is the Head Coach for the North Georgia Falcons Football Organization and helped begin the first home school football team in the state of Georgia.

McDaniel is married to Diana and has 3 sons; Colt, Jordan and Zane.  Together they attend Mt Zion Baptist Church in Jasper, Ga,

"My dream for The Tycoon Cocoon is to take it national and international, offering training in entrepreneurship especially to women.  I know of so many stories of organizations that have been able to provide a woman with a $50 loan to buy a sewing machine, and seen her turn her whole family life around, being able to afford food, medicine and education that she never dreamed of providing for her family before.  I want to be a part of this movement."

 This is not just an exploratory class, but instruction and hands-on practice on a life skill that not many people master.  

Courses are very lively, with music, art, public speaking and plenty of moving around.

These two programs offer middle school students the opportunity
to use the financial tools that will help them realize their dreams.
They learn business basics by imagining themselves starting
a business and accomplish many of the tasks required for
successful business operation, such as designing a logo,
writing a press release, creating  website, forming joint
ventures, and using Quicken to generate a P&L.
In addition, they learn how to pay themselves first and
manage their money so that they build assets and avoid debt.
They win the money game when they become financially
free of needing to work every day for a living or living with alot of debt.

Life Skills

In todays world, not every student will need or want a 4 year college degree to obtain the career of his or her choice.  For this reason, we have added skills classes in order to give students a taste of particular skills that might whet the appetite of the learner and guide them to a place of learning suited to the desired career opportunity. 

These classes will be much like the 'shop' classes from traditional school systems, and will incorporate much hands on learning opportunities.
