Dr. Tim Rice, D. Min., LPC

Dr. Rice holds a Doctorate of Ministry in Family Counseling from Regions University. He spent 15 years working in a secular public behavioral health care center. He and his wife, Tina have home-schooled their children for 16 years;  They have two children in college and two still at home. I am an inexperienced high school-level teacher, but I'm working on it and enjoy it very much.

“As a young Christian, one of the first college courses I took (almost 30 years ago) was Psychology 101. I was not ready to refute the worldview assumptions hidden in the theories I was taught. Under the banner of “science,” the psychology professor challenged or ridiculed everything I held dear. I was part of the majority of Christians who “walked away” from their faith within 12 months of starting college. I wrote Homeschool Psych to help prepare Christian homeschool students for the dangers of modern psychology and to provide a framework in which our children can study the wonders of the soul, the mind, the brain, and behavior though a Christian worldview.”

Dr. Rice majored in Psychology at the University of Georgia in the early 80s and was there when UGA won the National Football Championship.

After he married Tina he completed his B.S. in Psychology at the University of Montana at Bozeman. It was known as Montana State University at the time.

In 2001 he received a Masters of Public Administration degree from Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

In 2007 Dr. Rice was awarded a Doctorate in Family Counseling at Amridge University. It was called Region’s University when he graduated and Southern Christian University when he enrolled. His emphasis was Professional Counseling and dissertation was about Christian attitudes toward psychology.

Homeschool Psych: Preparing Christian Homeschool Students for Psychology 101, has roots in his dissertation.

Dr. Rice is licensed by the State of Georgia as a professional counselor.

One of the 1st courses your child will take in college is Psych 101. Most Christian students are not prepared for the  worldview assumptions underlying modern psychology. The  professor may challenge and ridicule everything you hold dear. You may have heard that many young Christians “walk away”  from their faith in the first years of college.
